The Focus Variado Expert has an aluminum frame, carbon fork, functional welds and Shimano 105 shifters and levers. So as it is a German bike, you need not worry about it lacking behind in any manufacturing detail as the country has a pretty good reputation of manufacturing mechanical things.
You can feel a solid ride when you take it out on a test whether on a street or out on a countryside. However it is important to mention that the Variado performs much better on the countryside than it does on the roads.
